  5. The \_bbs\opus directory contains the tools that created the
  6. files.bbs file in each subdirectory.  These should be usable with
  7. Remote Access / TubFile / Opus / QuickBbs / Superbbs.

  11. \_bbs\maxtool contains a utility to copy the files.bbs files to one directory
  12. on your hard disk and create the hcdareas.ctl file that points to the index
  13. files.  A prebuilt control file is in this directory.  Thanks to Koos van den

  16. PC Board

  18. The \_bbs\pcbtool directory contains the tools used to create the
  19. \_bbs\pcb dir??? files.  It also has a utility to create the global
  20. index file.  Please make backups on your configuration.

  24. The \_bbs\rbbstool directory has some tools and hints for installing
  25. the cdrom on a RBBS board.  The file listings are in \_bbs\rbbs.  Thanks to Bruce Jackson.

  29. The \_bbs\sftool directory has some tools and hints for installing the cdrom
  30. on a spitfire BBS.  The file listings are in \_bbs\sf.

  32. RoverBoard

  34. The \_bbs\rover directory has instructions for converting the
  35. \_bbs\pcboard\*.dir files to rOver board format.

  37. Wildcat

  39. \_bbs\wc30 contains a setup program for wildcat, version 3.55.  this is the
  40. commercial version, not the shareware version.  This works with versions up to
  41. and including 3.90.

  45. If you want to show me what your bbs requires for a directory area display
  46. similar to the rbbs display, please send me the exact specifications.

  48. I produced these with the program "makemenu" in \_bbs.  This produces a double
  49. column listing of the area descriptions based on \_bbs\dirs.txt.  There are
  50. three versions of the directory menu, a plain version (dir.dir), a IBM high-bit
  51. version (dirg.dir), and an ANSI color version (dirc.dir).

  54. A lot of these programs use DOS redirection.  This allows a program that
  55. prints to "standard out" to `redirect' its output to a file or another program.
  56. If it sends it to another program it goes through a `pipe'.  For example,
  57.  
  58. makemenu > out

  60. sends the output of the makemenu program into a file called out.
  61.  
  62. If I wanted to sort the output of the makemenu command and display it to
  63. the screen, I'd type
  64.  
  65. makemenu | sort
  66.  
  67. If I wanted to sort it and sent it to a file, I'd type
  68.  
  69. makemenu | sort > out

  71. Most of the batch files use redirection.  My utilites write to standard out so
  72. they can be redirected to a file or piped through another program accepts
  73. standard in as input.
